The most beautiful beaches in Colombia are located in the city of Santa Marta, characterized by its magical and unforgettable landscapes. A city surrounded by vegetation, unique fauna and the Caribbean Sea.
Its proximity to the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta (named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985) makes it a paradise and a must-see destination to enjoy a break surrounded by nature and beautiful landscapes. The Tayrona National Natural Park, where the spectacular Lost City is located, is a magical place, where nearly 30,000 indigenous people from the Kogi, Arhuaco, Kankuaro and Wiwa ethnic groups converge with nature, making this quiet place an ideal place to connect spiritually with oneself and with nature.
But it is not only its natural resources that make Santa Marta one of the most important tourist destinations in Colombia. The city has streets full of history that house in its center monuments of colonial architecture very well preserved over time that manage to transport the visitor to another era, among others the oldest cathedral in South America (1760). On the outskirts is the Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino, the last resting place of the liberator Simón Bolívar.
Talking about Santa Marta also means talking about El Rodadero, the most emblematic stretch of beach in the Colombian Caribbean. It also has a large number of small bays nearby (Los Ángeles, Taganga, Wuaichichi) with beautiful, paradisiacal white beaches and unparalleled crystal-clear waters, some of which are part of the renowned Tayrona Park (Bahía Concha, Playa Cristal, Neguanje, Siete Olas and Cabo San Juan), others are located on the mouths of natural rivers in the Caribbean Sea (Guanchaca, Guairaca, Buritaca, and Palomino in La Guajira). Diving plans are also offered for those who want to admire the variety of marine life and let their imagination fly towards unknown worlds and places. Santa Marta is characterized by the kindness of its people and a cuisine based on seafood, of which Chipi Chipi (a mollusk) and fried fish are the protagonists, typical dishes that the locals combine with coconut rice and patacón, which make the tourist feel all the spark of the Colombian Caribbean.
